Defense of Marriage Equality

On June 26, 2013,  the US Supreme Court ruled that the federal government could not deny the same benefits to married same sex couples  in states that allow same sex couples to marry that it granted to heterosexual married couples.  And, there are currently 13 states that allow same sex marriage. There were celebrations in the LGBT community across the nation.  These photos were taken at a  rally and celebration  at the Stonewall Inn in New York City where on June 28, 1969 the modern gay rights movement started when cross dressers and gay people  refused to be  arrested by the NYPD during a raid on the Stonewall Inn,  and protested (some say rioted) outside the Inn  for several nights.

  1. Great photos, and thanks for sharing the history of Stonewall Inn. June 26 was a great day to live in America.
