Washington Square Park NYC

Washington Square Park in NYC on a warm sunny day is one of my favorite places. It is populated by gentle anarchists. It is a place where people gather to enjoy the sun, the day and the world. It is a place where people enjoy and encourage their own and others’ eccentricities. On any given day you might see

a fairy princess eating a hot dog

assorted characters

a duel

and musicians entertaining passers by.

  1. I love the buskers. We have them on downtown street corners (Portland) and in the parks. They are always interesting. Washington Square hasn’t changed much since I was there XX years ago.

    • No it hasn’t changed since before I went to law school across the street these many years ago. The people are the same free spirits and they still hang out in the fountain when the water is off. They moved the fountain a couple of years ago to align it with the arch– which many fans of the park including me thought was unnecessary.
