Santas everywhere – NYC December 2012

House of Brews

SantaCon is an annual event held in cities around the world on a Saturday in December.  The official website says it is not a pub crawl.  In New York City thousands of Santas roam Manhattan spreading joy and good cheer. Really. And they stop at the occasional watering hole for a meeting. The watering holes are also drop off places for non perishable food items to be distributed to food kitchens around the city.  I feel badly for the poor moms and dads who bring their believing  kids into the city for Christmas entertainment on the day of Santa Con.

lazy bones, sleepin’ in the sun.

I was particularly tired and cold one day  when, while walking down the street where I live,  I noticed this scene that I pass by almost every day. I  thought — wouldn’t it be so idyllic  to spend my days napping under the warm sun  near a woods by a lake in company of the living beings  that mean so much to me.
